The Victus Living Room Edit

The living room is the room you use most and think about least. It fills up in pieces — a sofa inherited from a first apartment, a coffee table bought in a hurry, a rug that turned out two sizes too small. Each decision was reasonable. Together they read as unresolved.

This edit is built the way I build a client room: anchors first, then the pieces that serve them. The sofa and the rug set the geometry. Everything after that is proportion.

I have not filled these slots with whatever is trending. Each one carries a specification — seat depth in inches, fabric durability in double rubs, frame construction, the price band where quality actually changes. If a piece cannot meet the spec, it does not belong in the room.

A note on order. If you buy one thing from this list, buy the rug. It is the single item that most often gets sized wrong, and correcting it later means re-buying, not adjusting. The sofa comes second. The rest can arrive over a year without the room ever looking unfinished.
