Formatting requirements for every inline placement

Same font size as body copy. No smaller. FTC guidance requires disclosure to be clear and conspicuous, and reduced-size disclosure is a common enforcement issue.
Above the first affiliate link, visible without scrolling past product imagery, and above the fold where the products themselves are above the fold.
Not inside an accordion, tooltip, hover state, or “read more” expansion.
Not the same color as the background, and at a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
On mobile, must render above the first product image, never beside it.

Additional Amazon requirements to confirm before launch

The disclosure must be placed so it is not obscured and appears in close proximity to the links.
Amazon prices and availability may not be quoted statically. Prices change and quoting a static price violates the operating agreement. Use price bands (“$200–$400”) or Amazon-provided dynamic elements instead of a hard-coded price.
Amazon affiliate links may not be used in email under the current Associates Program Operating Agreement.
Amazon links may not be used in downloadable PDFs, e-books, or offline material.
Link cloaking and URL shortening of Amazon links are restricted.

Victus Design Studio earns income from design services, digital guides, brand partnerships, and affiliate commissions on some of the products recommended on this site.

This page explains exactly how the affiliate part works, because a disclosure that nobody can find or understand is not really a disclosure.

In one paragraph.

Some links on this website are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, Victus Design Studio may receive a commission from the retailer. You pay exactly the same price you would pay going to the retailer directly — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket. Products are selected because they work, not because of what they pay. Some products recommended here pay nothing at all.

What an affiliate link actually is.

An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a retailer with a tracking code attached. The code tells the retailer the visit came from this site. If a purchase follows within that retailer’s tracking window, the retailer pays a percentage of the sale as a commission.

Three things follow from that, and they are worth stating:

Your price does not change. The commission is paid by the retailer from its own margin. There is no markup and no surcharge.

Commission rates vary widely by retailer and category. Some pay a meaningful percentage. Some pay very little. Some products recommended on this site pay nothing at all, either because the retailer has no program or because the specific category is excluded.

Tracking is imperfect. Ad blockers, cookie settings, delayed purchases, and switching devices all commonly prevent a commission from being recorded. This does not affect you in any way.

Victus Design Studio is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

What determines what gets recommended.

This is the part that matters more than the disclosure itself.

Scale and fit come first. The most common furnishing mistake is a well-made product at the wrong size. Every recommendation carries the dimension that determines whether it will work.

Materials are described accurately. Veneer is called veneer. Performance fabric is called performance fabric. Where a piece imitates a more expensive material, that is stated rather than obscured.

Products are assessed on design merit. Construction, proportion, finish quality, and how the piece behaves next to other pieces.

Commission rate is not a selection criterion. It has never determined a recommendation and it will not. Where a zero-commission product is the better answer, that is the one recommended. Several products currently on this site pay nothing.

Nothing is recommended that would not be specified for a paying client. That is the practical test applied to every selection.

Commitments.

No product is recommended solely because it pays a commission
No product is described as tested or specified when it has not been
No price is quoted as guaranteed, since retailer prices change constantly
No availability is guaranteed, since inventory changes constantly
No disclosure is hidden in a footer, an accordion, a tooltip, or reduced-size text
No sponsored content is published without a clear label at the top of the piece
No affiliate link is placed in a context where its nature is not disclosed

Sponsorship is different from affiliate, and labeled separately.

Sponsored content is content a brand has paid to have produced. It is a different arrangement from an affiliate link and it is labeled differently.

Where content is sponsored, it carries a clear label at the top of the piece, before the content begins, in the same size as body text — for example “Sponsored by [brand]” or “Paid partnership with [brand].” On social platforms, the platform’s own paid-partnership tool is used in addition to written disclosure in the caption.

Brands may review sponsored content for factual accuracy about their own product. Brands do not approve design opinion. Where the honest assessment of a product is unfavorable, the content is not published and no fee is invoiced.

Products sent at no charge.

Where a product has been provided at no cost, that is stated in the content in which it appears — “gifted by [brand]” or equivalent.

Receiving a product does not create an obligation to feature it, and does not change the assessment of it. Products sent without a prior agreement carry no obligation of any kind.

Contractors, trades, and service providers.

Victus may refer clients to contractors, painters, cabinet makers, flooring suppliers, window treatment companies, installers, organizers, photographers, and other service providers.

Where a referral relationship involves compensation of any kind, that is disclosed to the client at the time of referral, in writing.

A provider is never recommended solely because a referral fee is attached. Referrals are based on work quality and reliability, and any provider whose work is not up to standard is removed from the list regardless of any fee arrangement.

No compensated referral relationships currently exist. If one is entered into, it will be disclosed here and alongside any recommendation it affects.

Disclosure in guides and email.

Digital guides that name specific products carry this disclosure on the first page of the document.

Emails containing affiliate links carry the disclosure near the top of the email, above the first link.

Imagery labeling.

Where an image on this site is a rendering, a visualization, a concept image, or has been generated or substantially altered with artificial intelligence, it carries a visible label reading “Concept” or “Visualization” on the image itself.

An image is never presented as a completed Victus client project unless it is a photograph of completed work carried out by this studio, published with the client’s permission.
