Book a design consultation.

Sixty minutes on your actual rooms, with a written plan delivered within three business days.

This is a working call, not a sales call. You send photographs and measurements ahead of time, we spend the hour making decisions, and you receive a prioritized written summary afterward.

Format: Video call, or in person in the Raleigh–Durham–Chapel Hill area

Length: 60 minutes

The Hour

How the time gets used.

The call is structured so an hour is genuinely enough.

Minutes 0–5 — What is bothering you. In your words, in priority order. This sets the agenda.

Minutes 5–20 — The layout. Where things sit and how you move through the room. Most problems described as style problems are layout problems, and this is where they surface.

Minutes 20–35 — Light. Almost always the highest-impact change available and almost always the most under-addressed. Layers, heights, switching, and bulb specification.

Minutes 35–50 — What you keep and what you buy. Existing pieces assessed honestly: keep, re-place, refinish, reupholster, or release. Then the gaps, with specific direction on category, dimension, and price band.

Minutes 50–60 — Sequence. The order to do it in, so the room is presentable at every stage rather than only at the end.

Timings are a structure rather than a script. If your room is entirely a lighting problem, the hour will reflect that.

Deliverable

Afterward.

A written summary within three business days.

The summary includes: every decision made on the call, a prioritized action list in the order the work should happen, specific product direction with category, required dimensions, and price band, paint direction with manufacturer names and codes where color was discussed, and a note on which existing pieces to keep and what to do with them.

It does not include: a full shopping list with purchase links, a to-scale floor plan, or a visual board. Those are the One-Room Shopping Board, which is a separate service.

You may record the call. Say so at the start. Many people find the recording more useful than notes.

Studio note:

Preparation

Send these when you book.

Preparation is the difference between a useful hour and a vague one.

Photographs. Each room from at least two opposite corners, plus one of each wall. Shoot in daylight with the lights on. Do not tidy first — the mess is information about how the room is actually used.

Measurements. Room length and width, ceiling height, window width and height with distance from the floor, doorway placement, and the location of any fireplace, radiator, or built-in.

Existing pieces. Photographs and dimensions of anything staying in the room. Sofa length and depth, table dimensions, dresser width.

Your priority. One or two sentences on what is bothering you most. “The room feels cold and I do not know why” is a completely usable brief.

Budget range, if you have one. Not required, but it makes the product direction realistic rather than theoretical.

Upload during booking, or email to carolina@victusdesignstudio.com within 48 hours of the call.

Fit

A consultation is a good fit if:

  • You have one to three rooms and specific decisions in front of you
  • You own furniture you want assessed honestly rather than replaced automatically
  • You want to understand the reasoning, not just be handed a list
  • You are willing to do the buying yourself
  • You can prepare photographs and measurements in advance

It is not the right fit if

  • You want a complete shopping list with links — that is the One-Room Shopping Board
  • You are renovating and need finish selections — that is Paint & Finish Selection
  • You have a whole house and need ongoing management — that is Full-Service Design
  • You are looking for free advice, since the value here is delivered during the paid hour

Questions

Before you book.

How many rooms can we cover in an hour? One room thoroughly, or two or three at a decisions-only level. Four is too many and the summary becomes shallow.

What if I have not measured yet? Measure before the call. Without dimensions, the direction becomes generic, and generic direction is not worth the fee.

Does the fee credit toward a larger service? Yes, toward a larger engagement booked within thirty days.

Can my partner or contractor join? Yes. Anyone making decisions should be on the call. Send their names when you book.

Will you recommend specific products? Direction with categories, dimensions, and price bands, yes. A full linked shopping list is the One-Room Shopping Board. Where a specific product is named and linked in the summary, an affiliate link may be used and is disclosed in the document. See /affiliate-disclosure/.

What if I need more time? Additional time can be booked as a second session.
