New Home Furnishing Roadmap
A sequenced plan for furnishing a whole house without buying in the wrong order.
Ideal client
A household that just bought or is about to close on a house and is standing in empty rooms. Relocations, first big house, downsizers moving into something entirely different. The problem is not one room; it’s eight, plus a move date.
Problem solved
Whole-house furnishing has a sequencing problem and a budget-allocation problem before it has a taste problem. Most people buy the sofa first and run out of money at the window treatments.
Exact deliverables
- A Whole-Home Direction (PDF, 2–3 pages): the palette, material story, and style thesis that will hold the house together, with the reasoning.
- A Room-by-Room Priority Plan: every room ranked into Phase 1 (before move-in), Phase 2 (first 90 days), Phase 3 (year one), with the reason for each ranking.
- A Budget Allocation Model (Google Sheet + PDF): the client’s total budget distributed across rooms and categories, with a recommended per-room target and a note on where to invest versus where to save.
- A Phase 1 Essentials List: 20–30 specifically named products with links — the things that must exist on night one (beds, mattresses, window coverings for bedrooms, seating, lighting, dining surface).
- A Buy-Order Calendar keyed to the move date, accounting for lead times.
- A Measurement Worksheet the client fills in as she gets access to the house.
- Two 45-minute calls: strategy call at start, walkthrough call at delivery.
Required client inputs
- Floor plan or MLS listing for the new home, plus any photos she has.
- Move-in date.
- Total furnishing budget as a number.
- Complete inventory of what is coming with her, with photos and dimensions of significant pieces.
- Household composition: adults, children and ages, pets, anyone with mobility or sensory needs.
- How they actually live — do they eat at the table, host, work from home, watch TV together.
- Which rooms she cares most about.
Meeting requirements
Two calls, 45 minutes each, included.
Turnaround
10 business days from receipt of complete inputs and strategy call.
Revision limit
2 revisions to the plan and budget model, requested within 21 calendar days.
Explicitly out of scope
- Full product selection for every room (Phase 1 essentials only — full rooms are Offer 3, and the roadmap is designed to sell them).
- Layouts or floor plans for each room (that’s Offer 5).
- Purchasing, ordering, tracking, or receiving.
- Move coordination, movers, or storage.
- Construction, paint, or finish selection (Offers 4 and 6).
- Installation or unpacking day.
